FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is MyHRM?
MyHRM is an iPhone and Apple Watch app that rebroadcasts your live Apple Watch heart rate as a standard Bluetooth heart-rate sensor. Bike computers, fitness apps, and gym equipment that pair a Bluetooth heart-rate monitor can then read your heart rate from the Apple Watch.
Do I still need a chest strap?
No. MyHRM uses the optical heart-rate sensor in your Apple Watch as the source, so a compatible head unit sees a heart-rate monitor without any extra strap.
Which devices can pair with MyHRM?
Any device or app that pairs a standard Bluetooth (BLE) heart-rate sensor — for example a Garmin Edge 840, Wahoo ELEMNT, or many indoor trainers and gym machines. See the Compatibility page for the current list.
Does it work with ANT+?
No. MyHRM broadcasts over Bluetooth Low Energy only. Devices that can only use ANT+ heart-rate sensors will not detect it.
Which Apple Watch and iPhone do I need?
An Apple Watch that records heart rate during a workout, paired to an iPhone that supports Bluetooth LE. Both the Watch app and the iPhone app need to be running when you broadcast.
Does it keep broadcasting in the background?
MyHRM broadcasts while you have an active Apple Watch workout and the iPhone app running. Keeping the iPhone app in the foreground is the most reliable setup, especially while first pairing a head unit.
Why does pairing with Garmin need extra steps?
An iPhone can only present one Bluetooth identity. If your Garmin also has that iPhone saved as a phone, it may reconnect to the phone record instead of the “MyHRM” sensor. The Setup page walks through disabling the phone connection so Garmin adds MyHRM as a heart-rate sensor.
How much does MyHRM cost?
MyHRM is free for 7 days. After the trial it is an auto-renewing subscription at $3.99 per year, billed through your App Store account. You can cancel anytime in your Apple subscription settings.
How do I join the beta?
Sign up on the Early Access page. When a TestFlight build is ready we email invited testers a link to install it.
What happens to my heart-rate data?
Heart rate is read from a HealthKit workout on your device, relayed to the head unit you pair, and not stored by MyHRM or sent to any server. There is no account.
Is MyHRM a medical device?
No. MyHRM is for fitness and training use. It relays the Apple Watch heart-rate reading and is not intended for medical monitoring or diagnosis.
How do I send feedback?
Use the Feedback page on this site for bug reports, compatibility results, and feature requests. Compatibility reports from real devices are especially useful.
